Financial

A cancer diagnosis can have a negative impact on personal finances.  If you have a pancreatic cancer diagnosis you may qualify for an Emergency Medical Card.  Speak to your social worker or another member of your treating team if this has not already been discussed.

Dealing with a Terminal Diagnosis

The majority of patients diagnosed with pancreatic cancer will receive a terminal diagnosis.  This can be an incredibly difficult time for patients and families.  Thinking about your choices and expressing your personal preferences can be helpful at this time.

The Irish Hospice Foundation provides a planning pack with different sections and easy-to-read forms. You can fill in your personal, medical, financial and legal information and preferences. It’s available from the Irish Hospice Foundation at www.hospicefoundation.ie
